Thank you all for your questions. This post is an announcement to let everyone know that I will be launching this weekly feature "Ask Kareem Anything" sometime this week. That's when I'd like you to post your questions. By the way, these are all great questions. Please post them later this week when we launch.

Hi Kareem

I was wondering if you had read Frederick Douglas: Prophet of Freedom, by David Blight.

I believe it should be required reading in our schools. Our country's history seen through the lens of that man's life would go a long way toward minimizing the arguments regarding critical race theory.

Hi Kareem. What a wonderful opportunity. Thank you.

What is your prediction for the future of our democracy and our country? How can we educate our people, preferably while young, to actually know and learn about the Constitution so they can be empowered to be more knowledgeable and better citizens so they won't be led astray by dangerous demagoguery? And finally, do you watch Steph Curry's amazing plays and enjoy them?

Always a believer and lover of basketball, I am. Grateful for your kindness and wisdom

Hi Kareem,

As someone who will always be an icon in NBA history, do you have an opinion on the list like the top 50 and now All NBA 75 players? Do you think there are other, better ways to celebrate the contributions of players? Something more inclusive? Should off-the-court accomplishments be a factor? Do you send encouragement to former or current players that are left off these lists? I’ve noticed many hurt feelings from those left off the list. It is sad to see great contributors to the game and life not receive recognition.

Thank you for letting us message you directly with questions.

I'm very new here, so this is a starter question: Do you prefer us to call you "Kareem" or "Mr. Abdul-Jabbar" (or something else)?

At any rate, I look forward to reading.

Kareem, What do you think about Celtics' Enes Kanter's standing up publicly for the human rights of Uyghur Muslims facing repression, denial of religious freedom, detention camps and slave labor in China? This seems like the kind of stand for justice by an athlete, despite obvious professional risks, that you have written a lot about before. A longtime fan from your Laker days....

Greetings Kareem,

My main question is: as a person who uses marijuana for medical reasons (and now that it's legal in my state, recreational as well), I'm wondering what your stance is on the federal legalization of marijuana? As a rider question, I realize that many professional athletes use marijuana for medical reasons as well, but their respective leagues will suspend them if they test positive. With many of the owners and league officials using marijuana for recreational purposes, why is it that players unions allow teams to suspend players based upon positive marijuana tests? It's kind of hypocritical.

Peace and Be Well,

Gregg
