Good morning! I like this new feature. I appreciate reading your thoughts on the week’s events. Even better, I agree with your assessment. It reflects my disappointment and frustration with people who choose ignorance and fear at others’ expense.
Excellent reading. I want to thank you for your honesty courage and hopeful insights into these top news headlines. Thinking before reacting and researching before writing make reading your blog so inclusive and enlightening. Thank you and your team.
Like the new feature!! I live in a very conservative state and love to hear a different perspective that is well thought out, intelligent, and passionate. Thank you
Maybe it is wishful thinking, but I feel somehow we turned a corner this week. Between the excellent economic numbers (not to mention gas prices down 50 days in a row), Alex Jones being brought to Justice, the forced birth crowd taking lumps in Kansas of all places, and the climate package it s getting pretty hard to criticize the direction of the country and its leader. Hopefully, democrats will finally stop distancing from Biden and embracing the fact that regardless of his communications skills, he has done more good in the first two years of office than any President in recent memory.
Manchin and Sinema. Yes. Everything you say! But the worst thing they do is take people’s attention away from the real issue, the republicans.
I always appreciate hearing your thoughts, whether about sports, culture, headlines, or whatever else you choose to share.
With regards to Brittany Griner, I'm curious what you (or anyone else's) thoughts are on what an "acceptable" sentence would have been. Further, how does that compare with the two years former NBA player Iman Shumpert is facing for the felony of having marijuana in a Texas airport earlier this week. I suspect Shumpert won't get that amount of time or even go to trial, instead becoming one of the 90%+ of convictions from a plea bargain to save time/money. Is that more fair or just?
It's not very long ago that mandatory minimums in the US produced staggering prison sentences for people in similar situations. I don't know for certain but I suspect there are many people still in prison under those sentences for what we would today consider a minor offense.
It's absolutely bonkers that Griner or Shumpert or the people in prison for similar offense are in custody. It seems so easy to have airports (or wherever else) to just confiscate items you can't have there and leave it at that without getting charges involved.
I wish the Griner case could be used to clean up our own house, as well. But instead it seems Democrats want to say "Russia bad, how dare they!" and Republicans want to say either "Russia bad" or "Look how powerless Biden is" or "she deserves it" without any introspection into things we could actually and properly change.
I always enjoy your insights on current events. And I love that you get to your point in a concise and interesting way. So tired of buried leads and taking so long to get the point. When I ask someone what the time is, I want the time. I don’t want to hear/read how the watch was made! Thank you!
I ALWAYS look forward to receiving your newsletters & this new feature will only enhance my reading experience!
I use to subscribe to Eric Boehlert’s Press Run & I especially liked how he would counter the typical MSM naysayer attitudes directed towards POTUS. I was crushed upon learning of his tragic death in April, but your newsletter has been a welcomed replacement! Thank you!
Good morning. As usual, Kareem expresses his POV with clarity and poignant accuracy. A thoughtful take on today's headlines as the majority of Americans see it. Thank you, keep writing!
Love your top news headlines comments. Why are Manchin & Sinema democrats? Don't understand their ongoing objections & obstinate refusals to do the right thing. And Alex Jones. He cannot even be characterized as human. His attempts at obfuscation on the stand and refusal to give straight answers were just more of the same because he has no intention of being a truthful human. The jury awarded $45.2M in punitive damages. It's too bad there isn't some kind of public humiliation as punishment that can be imposed on him. So much more can be said about the headlines, the rich getting richer, the poor poorer. Bring Brittany home before they isolate her in a penal colony with forced labor. And how could we possibly expect agent Orange to say anything cogent? He pretends that a lot of words, logical or not, make him sound intelligent. HA!! Surprise. They don't.
Please use sunscreen when venturing outside with your newly polished & shiny head. Don't want you to get burned.😂😂
I originally subscribed to hear your take on how our society deals with cultural and racial issues. You did not disappoint. Your thoughts on the politics of the day are a welcome additon. Keep up the good work.
Love your new feature. When we were both at UCLA, my admiration was that of youth looking at athletic achievement. Now, sharing your age, my admiration is based on so much more. You are a treasure.

This is a great feature, and I hope you continue with it. Who knows, I may disagree with you in the future, but today is 100% spot on.

It's a nice roundup of important events, along with your incisive, thought-provoking commentary. I'd enjoy seeing more.

I find the former bball star a public intellectual, and hope that he is recognized as such.
