Hear hear! I find it both enlightening and disheartening that the so-called republican fans are losing some interest in the NFL because of the League's efforts to end discrimination. What is up with that? Are these valid statistics? Kareem, whatever goes on in life, please continue on in the neverending battle for fairness and equality. Your words need to be read and heard.
From the Cleveland Summit to the White House, a reminder to those who may have missed this joyous moment, and a shout out to a great man! : "Nov 22, 2016. For his greatness on the court and societal contributions once his playing days ended, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was recognized with the nation's highest civilian honor on Tuesday, as President Barack Obama awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom."
I agree that the poll findings are disgusting, but can you honestly say they are surprising? Only if the lawsuit succeeds in a large $$$ award, or forces an equally costly settlement, will the old white male establishment do anything differently.
Nice! It's not just the NFL, it's the nation's social climate in general. The NFL is nice "core sample" or "Petri dish" of an "experiment gone bad", in that there's old boy network which controls the variables...including Roger Goodell (the owners essentially pay his salary). The whole Kaepernick situation was/is/will always be a black-eye for the NFL.
As a former fan of the NFL - from 1966-1986, I lost interest after the league became less about player positional skills, and more about maiming your opponent. I regained interest due to my young sons, but they too realized (without my help) that the NFL is a farce. That's a generation lost. The NFL has to recognize that people are getting wise to their exploits, and that future generations (too late for this one) will shape the professional sports leagues based upon spending (or not) of recreational dollars on flotsam and jetsam.
Based on the Republican and Republican sympathizers I know, they love to talk the talk (answer a poll that way). But they don’t walk the walk; they’re more addicted than ever to the NFL. After all, who among them would miss a chance to see another militaristic display and costly flyover?

Probably not. In order to maintain the status quo, they cannot give up their $$ or their privileged status. And certainly not their prejudices.
So beautifully said. I also think MLB is not that far from the NFL.

The growing popularity of soccer among the youngsters in this country will also likely prove to be another nail in the NFL coffin.
