The Jackie Wilson performance made my day! I saw him perform in Cleveland when I was a young girl..!! Never to be forgotten!

Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville is THE WORST!! (Don't get cocky, Ted Cruz! You're the dregs, too!) What the über-Tuber has been doing is absolutely unconscionable! If only there were enough truly patriotic (pro-democracy) Alabamans (Alabamians?) to recall Tuberville's sorry ass!!

“Tuberville doesn’t have the insight, probably from not reading poetry, to be ashamed for himself.”

Tuberville is an idiot, pure and simple, like the rest of the trump lemmings. His party seems to be dominated by them. Greene, Boebert, Jordan, Gaetz,...

Count me with those who would like to see the octogenarians retire and leave office. But who is out there that’s fit to replace Biden? Who has the fortitude and experience? Harris hasn’t shown me a single thing in 3 years.

Mr Abdul Jabbar, I wish we were neighbors, our politics, life’s lessons learned and diverse popular culture appreciation are so alike.

Just a point of clarification regarding poets on ships. The poem that Francis Scott Key wrote, which later was set to music and became "The Star Spangled Banner," was titled "Defence of Fort M'Henry."

No no no no. Nope. Hell to the Madea Tyler Perry NAW. Nobody's seceding. We earned all fifty states right or wrong, with blood, sweat, tears, and hope under whatever deity you pray to

because America is one nation. Period. We may be red and blue, rich and poor, the powerless and the filthy rich but if we divide? Every dystopian movie, every bleak future, will show up harder and faster than Mike Tyson's right hand in a street fight. It's time for America to wake up, relearn our priorities and responsibilities and focus on our obligations to our future, ourselves and each other instead of differences and the petty and dangerous misconceptions fed to us by the small minded fools we allowed to run our lives through indifference or ignorance.

Kareem on New York's WPIX (TV) - I agree 100%, plus an extra 10% just because the man played at a time when the NBA was less popular than it was during the 1980's thru present-day times - The Big O was "The Man" as far as point guards go in NBA history. I was fortunate to see him play a few times, and even met him once. He was great both on and off the court - gotta love Oscar Robertson!

As for Biden - I tend to vote for the candidate versus the party. I'm not happy (haven't been for years) with any of the choices offered. It sucks that it comes down to voting for "the lesser evil" versus a candidate that truly represents my values and beliefs. Either way, the Russians, Chinese and North Korean governments are winning World War III - yes, it's already started. The beginnings of wars are often full-scale military attacks, but this war started with cyber-attacks, hostage-taking, missile testing and harsh rhetoric supporting the military readiness of the above mentioned lunatic asylums claiming to be nations. Lunatic asylums? Right where the Russian comrade Trump belongs. Trump is a commie puppet, and his supporters are "Trumpets" sounding the horns (Revelation) while he bumbles his way through the commie puppet show. Divide and conquer is working, while the US puppet show is in progress. Either way, perhaps it's time to start learning Russian and Mandarin, I'll skip Korean, in terms of language and culture.

At this point I'd vote for the inflatable pilot from the film "Airplane".

Is Biden too old to continue another term as president? The only answer is: Maybe. Maybe not. As an orthopedic surgeon with over 30 years in practice, I see the evolution and effects of mental and physical frailty on a fairly regular basis. For me, that's the difficulty with Biden taking on another term: While he may remain sound and capable for 15 to 20 years more, it happens too frequently that things start to slip. It's like the person walking along a dirt path cliffside: as the road becomes less secure, dust and pebbles start to roll off down the cliffside. How many more steps before larger portions start to slip out from under the hiker's footstep? Unfortunately, more often than not, there isn't a sign that warns one to go no further. Instead, the unwary traveller continues on until the road itself gives way and the traveller tumbles into the abyss. It's that uncertainty that makes re-electing Biden an uncomfortable choice.

Unfortunately it seems as though this coming election is a personal competition between old rivals, one of whom is a sore loser. The competition strikes me as personal both among voters as well as the presumed candidates: Biden vs. Trump, live on Pay per View. And with that in mind I have to wonder if candidate Biden is being objective.

That said, I would cast my vote for Biden rather than Trump regardless of age or disability. I just wish President Biden wouldn't back me into that corner.

Ah the "Stable Genius"up to his old tricks. Good to see Nancy Pelosi deciding to go for another term in the House btw. Learned a good bit about Jackie Wilson- did not know that those misfortunes happened in his life.

I am one of those who think Biden should step aside in '24. It isn't that age disqualifies, per se. But people age differently. The difference people perceive between Biden and Trump is that Trump can carry on his barrage of non-sequitur on non-sequitur without skipping a beat. It isn't what he says, it is the fluidity with which he says it. In contrast, I watched Biden deliver his remarks in Maui a couple weeks ago and he literally could not get out a complete sentence when not reading his prepared remarks. He fumbled, lost his place and really seemed like he was grasping for words. His elderly gait adds to the impression of infirmity. True, "he" has done some very positive and even difficult things in his time in the White House. But I strongly suspect much of that can be traced to some very good staff doing very good staff work. Kudos to Biden for knowing how to delegate. But he is ultimately in charge. I worry mightily about that moment Putin or Xi force him to think on his feet to make a critical decision. I don't think he is up to it. Compare him to Gavin Newsome, Cory Booker, or even Hillary Clinton and tell me who is more up to the challenge. Give any of them Biden's staff and I don't think it is a close call. More important, public perception matters more than reality right now. Biden's age and ego may sink democracy. He should withdraw from the race.

Mr. Jabbar, your dry humor is wonderful. You are spot on about Biden's age. " Biden may drive the car more slowly, playing the oldies station, and with the blinker permanently on, but at least he’s driving in the right direction." To my thinking and many others, President Biden has done a remarkable job, navigating through treacherous waters in an unprecedented time of turbulence in our nation. His record should speak for itself. Missteps, or even mistakes? Yes, a few. But overall, his hand has been steady, and his judgment sound. So why doesn't that seem to matter to these "anxious" Democrats? Isn't that how we should judge our leaders, rather than "optics? I'm tired of hearing about his age.

To me, the issue of VP Harris is the elephant in the room. Granted, she's not a great politician. But she is loyal, earnest, smart, and hard-working. And she cares deeply about average, everyday Americans. The specter of Hillary Clinton looms larger than some want to admit. I suspect some Americans, from both parties and genders, and all races, simply are still not comfortable with the ideal of a woman as President. Sad, but true. Yet, are we blind to history.? Many countries have been well led by a woman--think Britain, India, Germany. The list goes on and on. Americans need to grow up. Get over the misogyny, and racism for that matter. It's so lame and unjustifiable, and immoral. Clearly, relinquishing power to those who have been marginalized historically is threatening to some. Case in point, the upswell of blatant racist vitriol that fueled Trump's rise after Obama was elected.

Getting back to Biden's age. As far as I'm concerned, if God chose Moses at age 80 to confront

Pharaoh, and lead the Israelites out of bondage in Egypt for the next forty years to the promised land, Biden is fine with me.

Your explanations of why you feel and think the way you do, are sooo well thought out and rational. I know 3 monkey people. They’re ignorant and trying to talk to them is like talking to a rock. My brother is one of them. When statues celebrating the Confederacy wre being taken down, he screamed " they're trying to change history!". Of course he couldn't tell you who "they" are, nor does he know anything about the history of the statues, including when and why they were put up. So thankful for your videos of animals and kids, and your great music breaks. Always make me laugh and smile.

People like MTG (why does she get to be known by her initials. Should be reserved for people who actually matter) and Tuberville should be required to take the citizenship test that immigrants must take to be citizens. It would weed out these morons. (Wishful thinking)

DeSantis is the retired Dr Fauci, CDC and FDA rolled into one. He'll do away with all of them if he manages to win the Presidency.

Great explanation of age and running for office. Keep up the good fight!

Sarah Huckabee is doing the same nonsense as DeSantis. I am at a loss to figure out how they live with themselves.

Thanks for your article and Biden's Age. I'm going to be 77 in December and I still run 2 Companies. As you correctly identified; It is less the number than the persons ability to still "play" at a professional level. That said it is also true that in this country we are discriminated against for age. Women who turn 50 are being pushed out of their companies. I've watched it happen many times. The loss on intellectual capital through this discrimination is great. Yet in the US we become doddering old people after a certain age. When I travel to other countries I am treated with respect for the wisdom I can impart. But in the US I am barely seen. What a loss for our country
