Today, to honor your completing another orbit around Sol, all elementary particles in the universe have adopted the spin equivalent to Spalding's finest departing your sky hook.
Laugh with abandon, smile most broadly and be of excellent cheer today. Happy Birthday, Renaissance Man.
P.S. - I know that you dig the jazz and that's totally groovy but the track below possesses the ebullient energy your environment deserves today (and it might transport you back to your Bucks days).
Happy 75th, Kareem. I remember you in your Power Academy days, when I was a high schooler in New Jersey. Everyone was talking about your basketball prowess. Now we're talking about your value as a writer and a social commentator. What a guy.
Kareem, you and I both started at UCLA in 1966, me as a junior transferring from a junior college. I was at Pauley when your freshman team beat the defending national champions by 20 points and have been an admirer of yours ever since. I retired from the full-time faculty at UCLA in 2018 and have on several occasions found myself greatly appreciating the knowledge, insight and wisdom in an op-ed in the LA times, only to then discover that you were the author. I continue to be amazed by the degree your thoughts and observations mirror my own, and I think of you as the most enlightened commentator of our time. It must have been that UCLA education.
Happy Birthday to the other Great One! Love your words; love your passion for wanting our nation to live up to its ideals. From UCLA Class of 1977, Happy Birthday! Gary N. Stern
Since I am a subscriber already, I will offer you my other very best gift. I will NOT sing Happy Birthday or anything else, because my doing that would violate at least half of the Geneva Accords regarding torture.
I will just say happy birthday, hope you still have many more happy, healthy years coming!
Happy Birthday Kareem. Another milestone achieved. Thank you for all you are & all you do. Your writings are so informative & timely. Your presence in this life has blessed so many. The very best to you always.
Great stuff for your birthday, from the same guys who have done such a great job honoring my guys Mickey and Ali. You are right with them and a few others in the pantheon of my sports heroes who were and are much more than sports. Looking forward to your keepin' on keepin' on. Even if "they" still don't like it, and still don't give you the platform you have always deserved. All the best to you and yours.

Happy Birthday, youngster! Your essays even outstrip the beauty of your skyhook!

That's how I reverse my age. 😆
Happy Birthday, Kareem. Here's to many, many more. You are an inspiration as a writer, just as you were as a player. All the best to you.
